A big part of the reason people like this pump is the rubber massage cushion on the breast flange (the part of the pump that cups your breast) which has five petal-shaped bumps on it. The texture is supposed to mimic the stimulation a baby would naturally provide. Being relaxed helps with milk let-down, and between the massage cushion and the lack of electric whirring and humming, it’s easy to get relaxed. Having a hand pump is less efficient than having a double electric pump, but it also makes pumping feel like less of a big production. Keep in mind that this pump is designed for an average-sized breast, so if you are larger or smaller busted you may want to purchase a different size of massage cushion or perhaps look into a pump that’s more customizable. One thing moms note is that the handle can start making a squeaky sound when you press on it, but greasing it with Vaseline stops the squeaking.
